The reincarnation of little Smart

The opinion, that little Smart is over-valuated was very spread in the public in past years. Because of its smallness, it should be useful only for city drive in Europe, but on the highways, it is not safe and even more dangerous as other cars.
Daimler Corporation had invested big money in the years 2005 and 2006 and developed second generation of Smart car that is in front of its time. The idea of Swatch Corporation owner Nicholas Hayek has finaly satisfied expectations. It fulfills all safety standards (Euro NCAP and U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), beside that it is economic with very low consumption (about 4litres/100 km).

Smart is becoming very popular in the USA where is available from January 2008. In eight months, they have sold more than 14.000 of cars and demands are still so high that buyers must wait almost one year on delivery. Because of a new market, sale activities rose up for 57% what is more than 81.000 of sold cars. Daimler reached a very impressive result this year, when overcame the mount of one million sold Smarts. Now it is time to step on the biggest market on the world. On Chinese market...
Because of its economical characteristics Smart is the most ecological non-hybrid car in America. However, most of Americans do not buy Smart because of its economity, but because of its design. Basic variety of Smart cost 11.590$, but Americans prefer more expensive variety with full accessory equipment (16.590$).
Daimler has spent less than 10 million US dollars for promotion of its Smart in the USA, what is extremely low amount for advertising of a car.
Smart is a car for people who concern about the ecology on one side and those who love esthetic and special design on the other side…
