The hundredth anniversary of Ford model T
September 30, 2008
It was the first massive production model, that’s why it was cheaper and available also for those who worked at first industrial assembly line ever. One hundred years ago on 1st of October, first assembly line began to work at Ford production factory in Detroit.
After that, different varieties of T model had been producing for 19 years before new models came. Final number of produced T models was about 15 million, what is just an impressive outcome.
First samples cost 825 usd, lately in the year 1925 it cost only 260 usd. Main causes for big savings were massive production, usage of a great number of equal component parts, rational use of raw materials and so called – “fordization” of production process.
Only Volkswagen Beatle on the year 1972 with total amount of produced cars caught Ford’s model T. However, Ford does not have special reasons for big celebration in the time of world recession and car industry is not an exception.
New model Ford Ka is going to production in Poland (EU) soon, they announced.
