Ultralight two-seat airplanes

Slovenian company Pipistrel (Slovenija, Ajdovščina) holds 100% of world market share in production of ultralight two-seat powered gliders. They have celebrated 20th anniversary with a series of important achievements.

At the official invitation of American Space Agency NASA, they held their primacy of “best airplane” producer. They convinced NASA with ultralight Virus 912 side-by-side two-seat cruising aircraft and won prestigious title for the second time in a row, despite very strong competition. No scientific elaborates and reports are needed to compete at the invitation. American Space Agency NASA just brings out some basic criteria that airplanes must meet to qualify to the main competition. This year criteria were – 30 miles long flight with 1 liter of consumed fuel.

Ivo Boscarol (Company Director): “Our philosophy bases on energetic efficiency, environment care and flying with minimal engine support and our airplanes consume even less fuel, they are quieter and environmentally friendly – that is our biggest advantage. From the beginning, safety was our key aim, especially at that moment when the engine failed to work properly…”

Innovative Slovenian Company as a fully authorized partner collaborates with University in Stuttgart (Germany), where it is involved in development project of hydrogen-powered airplane. Their ultralight Taurus powered glider has ideal physical characteristics for this project and it is practically the only alternative in the world.
